Steve Thomas Sr. / The Bartender
Steve Thomas was born in Hawk's Nest, West Virginia on Jan.10, 1947. His father was a coal minor as well as his grandfather. Steve's father started preaching in 1950 in the hills of West Virginia. When Steve was 5 years old, his parents moved to Calvert City, Kentucky to start a new church. In 1956, Steve's family moved to a small town just north of Little Rock, Arkansas where his father took over a church in the town of Jacksonville. This is where they lived until Steve entered the Navy Seabee's in 1967.
Steve served in the Seabee's from 1967 –1968, including a tour of duty in Vietnam for a period of 10 months. Steve served proudly during the 1968 Tet Offensive and was discharged as a Heavy Equipment Operator and 2nd Class Petty Officer.
Steve is currently the president of Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo, CA and has been on the board of directors at the country club for 7 to 8 years. Spanish Hills Country Club is one of Steve's favorite places to be. Steve is a member of the Naval Historic Foundation, serving as a board member for about 2 years. The foundation has just completed the first round of fund raising totaling 12million (soon to reach the final goal of 18 million) for the Navy Seabee Museum to be built at the Port Hueneme Naval Base in California. Steve is involved with several charities across the County of Ventura and statewide. For the past 15 years Steve's BMW dealership contributes funds to many good causes and for the local high schools. Steve donates a used vehicle to the safe and sober prom night for Camarillo High School and Rio Mesa High School.
Steve has appeared on a few national television shows such as VH1 Classics, in a celebrity poker tournament where he finished 3rd place earning his charity the sum of $5,000. He also appeared on the story of the life of Dick Butkus,ESPN where he was interviewed for his relationship with the hall of famer, former NFL great Dick Butkus. Steve is known best for his commercials with the NFL great. These commercials are shown over the Southern California Region.
